Dear Supportive Baseball Parent:

The truth is it has NEVER been harder to bring up a baseball player than it is in today’s game.

The opportunities ranging from teams to play for, showcases to attend, and different trainings to attend and take part in are at an all time high and EVERYONE has the next big tool or trick to improve your son’s performance on the field. This can be extremely confusing and frustrating for the average parent. I’m SURE of this because I’m not only a strength coach to MANY middle school ballplayers all the way up and through the college ranks, but I’m also a former college ballplayer myself and I came up thru the same system.

I’m sure you’ve wondered:

  1.  Why your son plays baseball year round but still doesn’t throw any harder
  2.  Why your son works with a pitching coach and does “core” exercises but sees no increase in velocity
  3.  Why your son lifts weights at his high school but still doesn’t see improvements in strength and speed that carry over onto the field.

Ever since I started working out at ATS I have become both physically and mentally stronger. CJ has pushed me to my limits multiple times and it motivates me to keep pushing and doing my best with everything I do both in the gym and on the baseball field.

I have gained 50 pounds of muscle in the two years that I have been training at ATS but putting on the solid weight wasn’t the end of the results I have experienced from training here. I also noticed changes on the baseball field: I am throwing a lot harder, my bat speed has gone up tremendously and I am now able to hit the ball a lot further. I also noticed that I have gotten a lot quicker running the bases.

Ever since I began training here at ATS and developing more strength and explosive power my batting average has been increasing every year and allowing me to get more playing time.

“As a junior I had a dominating season that finished with me in the starting lineup for the Carpenter Cup. I hit 4 homeruns (I’d only EVER hit 2 before training at ATS), hit .375 on varsity (the year before I hit .250 on JV), and was top 10 in South Jersey in Doubles.”

Heading into my junior year of baseball at Eastern, I had no idea what the future held for me. I was way down on the depth chart for varsity and I knew my coach wouldn’t keep me to play JV (like I did last year) as a junior. As my fall ball season wrapped up I began looking for the best way to improve my game physically and mentally and one of my teammates told me about CJ and ATS. The rest is history: over my time at ATS I’ve lost about 30 pounds, took .7 off my 60, and I MADE VARSITY.

However, the results from my training here at ATS didn’t stop there – when I got my chance on the field I made it count. Working with CJ has made me physically and mentally a better player and PERSON. Physically I’m stronger, faster, and more powerful than I’ve ever been. These things truly translated well right onto the field. Walking into my junior year I had new arm strength and speed in the outfield that impressed coach and got me in the lineup. The new arm strength even got me on the mound (where I haven’t been since I was a kid). When I got my shot to swing I wasn’t slashing the ball anymore, I was driving it, which made me a key component in the playoffs last year. Not only did the hardwork at ATS get bigger and better physically it also shaped my mental part of my game as well, teaching me to really focus and get everything out of what I do and to get and keep the Blue Collar Mindset and stay part of the 1%.

The system really works and I can’t thank CJ enough for everything he has done for me.

Our middle school and high school ballplayers train 2-4x per week which is optimal depending on the time of year. Many of our athletes train year round but simply vary the frequency of their training – for example 2x per week in-season and 3-4x per week in the offseason. This allows us to not only get tremendous results in terms of strength, power and speed, but allows us to keep those gains year round while other work hard in the off-season and then lose everything they worked for over the course of a long season.
